2009 A'S & ACES' SUMMER PROGRAMS

In 2009, A’s & Aces provided over 500 children participating in five New Orleans Recreational Department (NORD) camps with high quality tennis instruction and character developing life-skills lessons at two sites.  East Bank and West Bank venues were used simultaneously Monday through Thursday for a period of seven weeks to provide Quick Start tennis programming in small groups to age-appropriate campers (ages 5-10).

The programming focused on the following:

• catching balls at low level on one bounce
• tossing over net within boundaries
• playing without rackets (using above skills)
• cooperative games/team games (total # in a rally)
• introduce ground strokes (forehand and backhand)
• introduce volleys
• underhand serves
• QS scoring
