"providing academic assistance, life skills and tennis to New Orleans public school children"
A’s & Aces is working to secure regular access to courts and academic environments (tutoring areas and computer labs) at tennis facilities (university and public), and intends for programming to continue to expand proportionately to resource availability. A’s & Aces aspires to also have a home facility dedicated to its mission.
Developing Tennis Student-Athletes:
Meanwhile, as New Orleans continues to recover and New Orleans Recreation Department public tennis facilities (e.g., Pontchartrain Park Tennis Center, Joe Brown Park Tennis Center, and Atkinson-Stern Tennis Center) are restored and reopened in coming months/years, additional opportunities to expand the number of children served will arise.
A goal of this project is to develop players to promote public middle school and high school tennis teams. As resources permit, participants will be selected based on talent and commitment for scholarships to an “Academy Tennis” program, the goal being to provide opportunities for players to develop skills necessary to obtain college tennis scholarships.
