Play in a fun event for a great cause!  Put together a team to enter this fun tournament that benefits at-risk children. All proceeds help A’s & Aces, a nonprofit public charity, provide academic support, life skills and tennis instruction to New Orleans public school children.

Format:   Teams will compete in each division as three doubles pairs and may consist of 6 or more players. Players can only play on one team. Divisions for women’s doubles are: 5.5, 6.5, 7.5 & 8.5. Men’s doubles divisions are: 6.5, 7.5 & 8.5.  Three matches will be guaranteed to each team with additional matches possible in championship rounds.  Match play may begin Friday at 5:30 p.m. for N.O. teams; 2 matches Saturday, and championships on Sunday.  Limited team entries per division, so sign up early!   Teams may consist of six to ten people.  All competition is on hard courts at the University Tennis Center.

Entries:   Entry Fee: $75.00/person ($60.00/person if received prior to September 1, 2009); Entry Deadline: October 9, 2009.  Teams must submit payment for at least 6 players with entry form.  Any player substitutions must be signed up prior to noon October 15, 2009.  Tournament communications will be made exclusively to captains whose obligation is to relay information on to his/her team.  Draws will be available Tuesday, October 13, 2009 at the University Tennis Center, at www.AsAndAces.org and will be emailed to team captains.  If your team needs a player(s), or if you are a player in need of a team, contact Henry Crocker: (504) 919-5599.

Special events all weekend:  Beer, food, refreshments and activities at University Tennis Center. Online Calcutta; Friday: Kick off party; Saturday: Breakfast and Lunch; Sunday: breakfast.  Separate $100/person admission ($75 for tournament participants) to the Saturday Gala held from 7-10 p.m. at Generations Hall; fine food, open bar, music, dancing and silent auction - all benefiting the children served by A’s & Aces)

Tournament Rules:  All players must be at least 21years old and have a NTRP rating or be self-rated. The Tournament Committee reserves the right to reclassify or refuse any entrant.  The tournament will be governed by the USTA rules.  Best 2 out of 3 sets, with the third set being decided by a 10-point tiebreaker during preliminary matches.  During Championship rounds, regular scoring all three sets may be used.  Inclement weather may result in the use of no-ad scoring, pro-sets or cancellations.  Events with less than 4 teams may be combined or cancelled.   If entire event canceled due to weather, all proceeds will be donated to A’s & Aces.   Awards presented to 1st and 2nd place teams.
