A's & Aces is starting to build a Parent Council. This is a pilot program. If you are interested to help us to build this initiative, please contact [email protected].
Our parents are very important partners. Parental support is essential to the success of our student-athletes and to the health of our organization. The A's & Aces Parent Council is a vehicle to facilitate and channel that support.
. Feedback: Provide constructive feedback on A’s & Aces programs (e.g., assist with parental surveys, program observations, etc.)
· Fundraising: Assist A’s & Aces with fundraising efforts, including seeking sponsors for tournaments, in-kind support (e.g., introducing A's & Aces development staff to potential donors or corporate sponsors, seek donated items for tournaments, auction events, etc.)
· Partnerships: Assist with partnership development (e.g., introduce potential new community/ corporate/ school partners, etc.)
· Programmatic support: Support the academic and/or athletic missions of A‘s & Aces programming by:
· Special initiatives:
-- Transportation assistance - organize transportation (parent carpools) to practices, tournaments and other events as needed
-- Team Captain - e.g., administer a USTA Junior Tennis Team, intramural competition, school teams, etc.)
-- Kids Club – help organize USTA Kids Clubs (an opportunity for children to practice on their own)
-- Parent Mentoring - assist other interested parents and their children with specific needs (e.g., "tennis parenting skills" - entering and participating in tournaments)
. Participate in the occasional Parent Council meetings to stay informed about A’s & Aces programs and operations.
· Support A’s & Aces participants by attending designated events (e.g., tournaments).
· Contribute to the A’s & Aces culture of sportsmanship, team spirit, positive attitude, diversity, and inclusiveness.

- directly interacting with students (e.g., as a tutor, mentor, guest reader), and/or
- assisting staff with curricula design (review materials, lesson plans), and/or
- supporting the tennis programming by direct service (e.g., as an assistant tennis coach, court monitor, tournament volunteer, out-of-town tournament "Team Parent")
· Special initiatives:
