SPECIAL PROGRAMS & EVENTS

A's & Aces provides children with many special programs and activities throughout the year, from our annual National Tennis Month events, Open Tennis Fests, to national contests and fellowship, internship, and scholarship opportunities.  

Scholarships/Awards  

The Coach David Schumacher Tennis Scholarships is given to competitive players who demonstrate excellence on and off the tennis court.  The goal of this scholarship is to provide high-performing players with support and opportunities to further develop their game and compete at the Southern level and beyond.  Scholarship recipients are selected based on several criteria, including tennis accomplishments and potential, USTA ranking/WTN rating, as well sportsmanship and character.  

National Tennis Month and Open Tennis Fest Events

National Tennis Month (NTM) and Open Tennis Fest (OTF) events provide tennis opportunities for the whole family.  NTM events are held in May and OTF events in September. 

TrueSport Days bring special guests to A's & Aces, such as Amobi Okugo, a professional soccer player, who visited our summer camp in 2023.  TrueSport is a program of the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency that focuses on life-skills, sportsmanship, and leadership.

USTAF NJTL national essay contest & lta art contest

Each year the USTA Foundation holds a national essay contest with a chance to win a trip to the US Open and New York. In 2019, James Bostick was one of the National Winners.  Since 2010, A's & Aces has had 13 Southern Winners for writing best essays in Louisiana.
