Youth Tennis & Learning Center Project
As current participants matriculate to the next grade level, A's & Aces continues to fill new entry-level classes at the youngest grades. Meanwhile, our 2008 class of 2nd graders - our oldest group of participants - are now in high school. Each year, many more participants enter the program, while our retention rates have also expanded. This is the planned growth of our “Pathway to College” initiative. Our strategic plan to address this growth has been studied for years and nurtured by USTA Capacity Building Program.
Our plan for fiscal sustainability is embodied in our social entrepreneurial mission and social enterprise funding model that employs a "hybrid" non-profit, diversification strategy. A's & Aces first expanded its funding model beyond a pure charity model (grants and donations only), when the organization began generating income as a program provider for schools and the City's recreation department, NORDC.
A's & Aces has long-planned to use a “home” facility as a programmatic hub for its social entrepreneurship operational model. Like other successful NJTLs, we have also planned to continue to build our reliance on mission-related, earned-income. While donations and grants will continue to be essential, this social enterprise strategy will promote sustainability and stimulate our ability to retain highly-qualified staff. Our vision is similar to the description used by another NJTL, “The epicenter of our organization, and a significant source of our ongoing financial resources, is the... Tennis Center…” (InnerCity Tennis).
A's & Aces is now planning to launch the public phase of a campaign to build a Hub Tennis & Learning Center.
